Hey everyone. I decided to make a post about my 1991 Tercel. Turns out it needs some money put into it. It needs 2 new front axles, valve cover gasket, brakes, tires, suspension (hah that was my fault...), a thermostat, and a radiator fan relay. I could also use an oil change, new oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires, and maybe some injector cleaner. All's well though.Project T-Cel has begun.
I will post pics along the way of the making of So. Cal's fastest and quickest Toyota Tercel. I have already stripped out the interior (all except headliner, door panels, seats, and dash) and am considering getting a roll bar put in till I get the money for a full cage (but the cage won't come till the engine swap).
Yup engine swap. People often tell me, 'Why? It's a Tercel.' Well...yeah, but who would really expect a Tercel to be turbocharged and intercooled (plus after all the mods and stuff, be running nearly 400HP).
On Wednesday around 2pm, I was headed to Jose's house to stay the night. I was driving west on the 60 when I suddenly heard someone revving a really obnoxious sounding car. Jose said it was next to us and 1 car back. I glance back and there were 2 Civic hatches (they were riced, but they at least made the body look good and stuff). They suddenly blazed past me and Jose, flipping us off. Now normally i'm a nice guy...if someone flips me off, I dont care. But this was the Tercel's time to shine. I turned on my blinker and flew over 2 lanes to an open lane. I quickly downshifted into 3rd gear (heh I have a whopping 4 gears) and dropped the hammer. I quickly passed both Civics up doing about 103mph. I look in my mirror and the Civics, instead of trying to catch up to me (the lanes around me were empty), merged into a lane with a lot of traffic. It was the highlight of my day.
Once I do the 4E-FTE swap in the Tercel, i'm not gonna put some loud and annoying exhaust on my car, or put crappy altezza lights, or lame ass neon, no. I'm gonna get slightly wider (and taller) rims, black. I'm gonna get some Falken Azenis RT-215's, Sparco seats, and I have yet to decide what brand 4-point seatbelts. I also plan on doing engine mods (my 'unoffical' girlfriend's dad owns a machine shop. score!), turbo upgrades, intercooler upgrade, fuel injection upgrade, and a whole lot more.
But body wise, i'm gonna get a new coat of the current (and factory) color. I'm not sure of the name of the color, but its a faded green color, and I'm gonna tint the windows. My goal with the Tercel is to make it a sleeper (and one heck of a sleeper too).
Like I said, I have pics to post (they are at home >_<), and I will post pics along the course of the Tercel's transformation.
Oh and the Tercel has 160,560 miles on it. Not bad I guess. Well, i'm out. See yas
EDIT: Oh I also created a custom logo I'm gonna have made into a diecut sticker for the back window when the modding is all done. I'll scan it at home and post it here =)
